What changed
Changes to how Speed Alert detects and measures vehicles, newest first. Changes that affect what you receive are also emailed before they take effect.
Street calibration
Each camera now learns the scale of its own street from the vehicles it has measured, instead of relying on the size of each vehicle alone. Readings are more consistent, mislabelled or partly hidden vehicles no longer produce inflated speeds, and the likely range shown with each reading is tighter (about ±10%). Existing readings were re-measured.
Real frame timing
Ring recordings do not always run at the frame rate they claim. Speed Alert now uses the real time of every frame, which fixed readings that were too high on some cameras.
First release
Speed readings with a likely range for every passing vehicle, alerts with a marked-up clip when a vehicle crosses your line, and safest and busiest hours. Detection uses a general-purpose object detector; no plates, no faces.
